Understanding & measuring
Target Audience: Individuals who work collaboratively with multiple community organizations or diverse stakeholders on a project or issue and want some tools that can help the group measure their impact and effectiveness. Also relevant for internal cross-departmental teams/projects.
“If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?” This quote by John Wooden, Hall of Fame basketball player turned coach, reminds us that rushing through something now might appear to save us time until problems arise and we have to divert our time and energy away from our core task in order to resolve those issues.
This happens all too often when we convene cross-departmental teams and/or multi-agency and multi-sectoral partnerships. We quickly jump to developing an action plan for the project while assuming the growth and development of the team or partnership will take care of itself. Then we wonder why we take one step forward and two steps backward between meetings.
This course tackles the why, what, when and how questions associated with evaluating partnerships and reviews the advantages and limitations of using existing evaluation tools. Participants will explore the benefits and barriers to conducting a partnership evaluation and identify strategies to reap the benefits and overcome the barriers.
Enjoyed the course. It was informative. Definitely need to undertake each of the three levels of partnership evaluation.
